Eugene Buchanan, a former reporter for the Denver Business Journal and 14-year publisher of Paddler magazine, has written about the outdoors for over 25 years, including work for ESPN.com and NBC at the Beijing Olympics. His freelance articles have appeared in the New York Times, Men’s Journal, National Geographic Adventure, and more. A Fellow of the Explorer’s Club, he also led the Outdoor Industry Association’s Outdoor Idols campaign. Author of four books, he lives with his family in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
