This Campfire we are featuring Casey Sheppard!
Casey Sheppard thrives on solo adventures that range from van life to bike packing across NZ to
paddle board camping and more. Birthed into the arts, She creates worlds within multi media
such as animation, shadow puppets, the written word, music, photography, and film to share her
personal experiences on Earth and, maybe one day, beyond!
Sheppard was the first recipient of the Big Agnes Bob Swanson Memorial Grant (2018) for her
solo self-supported bike ride across both Islands of Aotearoa (New Zealand). She was named
Best Digital Content by Upventur (2017) and has created content for Matador Network, Dirty
Jane, Women Who Explore, Big Agnes, Biolite, and more.
Her debut documentary, Those Among , won Best Woman Director & Best Documentary at the
Only The Best International Film Festival and received a Social Change Maker grant from The
Pollination Project (2020) for the film.
In 2024, Sheppard became one of the first female members of the Adventurers’ Club of Los
Angeles, is the first female member to host a weekly program interview, and volunteers on the
Programs Committee.
Based in Boulder, Colorado, Sheppard attends Naropa University majoring in Environmental
Studies. She is the founder of The Explorers Club of Naropa which is a nature-centric,
sustainable exploration club that focuses on connection, education, and protection of nature. She
is the editor of “His Eminence Shan’t Attend,” an adventurous children’s book about Sissy
Swashbuckle that inspires young girls to get into the wild.
