Fall in a glass! You truly can’t go wrong with seasonal fruit and bourbon, especially when it’s our award-winning Best Friend Bourbon. This cocktail that tastes just like an apple pie, and with a bit of work you can have ingredients to make at home whenever you please.
Follow this recipe:
2 oz. Best Friend Bourbon
.5 oz turbinado simple syrup *
.75 oz lemon juice
1 oz apple cinnamon jam **
Dash of orange bitters
Ground nutmeg garnish
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake thoroughly and dump shaker tin into a rocks glass
*Turbinado simple:
1 cup of water
1 cup of Turbinado sugar
Bring water to a simmer and whisk in sugar until completely dissolved. Let cool and store in a container for usee.
**Apple jam:
2 lbs of red apples
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup Turbinado sugar
2 tbs lemon juice
1 cup water
In a sachet
5 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp ground star anise
2 tsp whole cloves
Cut apples into small pieces removing the core. The smaller the pieces you cut, the more flavor you’ll get. Add all ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Stir throughout the process and ensure the sachet stays in the liquid. Boil until the apples are mushy soft and liquid has mostly evaporated. Remove the sachet and discard it. With a potato masher, smash apples until consistency resembles a chunky puree. Put apple jam into desired container for further use.
