2024 Yeti Gathering

At the 2024 Yeti Gathering in Salida, Colorado, Olympian and Yeti Ambassador Justin Reiter brought a touch of backcountry magic to life with a speakeasy cocktail bar nestled within the Big Agnes Mint Saloon. This unique venue, a standalone yurt aptly named after one of Steamboat Springs’ historic bars and brothels, became the heart of the event, drawing in adventurers and bike enthusiasts alike.

The cocktail menu, expertly curated and supported by Mythology Distillery, offered a range of classics: Manhattans, Old Fashioneds, The Paper Plane, Cold Brew Martini, Gin and Tonic, and Negronis. Each drink was a testament to the idea that the best bikes—like those from Yeti Cycles—deserve the best bourbon. Mythology Distillery’s spirits provided the perfect foundation for the evening’s libations, ensuring that every sip was as exceptional as the bikes themselves.  Weary riders fought over the limited seats inside to rest their fatigued legs from the epic 30+ mile ride earlier that day.  Stories and snacks were shared.

Outside the yurt, a fire pit warmed patrons who eagerly waited in line, braving the rain with anticipation. The speakeasy operates with one strict rule: bring your own reusable cup. Those who failed to do so were treated to the legendary “hand shot,” a tradition that began over a half decade ago when an intern, caught without a cup, was served whiskey in his cupped hands. The tradition lives on, adding a playful element to the evening.

Thanks to the support of Big Agnes, Yeti Cycles, and especially Mythology Distillery, Justin Reiter’s backcountry speakeasy was a highlight of the gathering, where good times and great drinks were had by all.
